The size of images displayed on a webpage will affect its loading speed and will also be an important factor in regards to its Google ranking. Any website admin or owner will therefore want to maximize page loading times, which means having the ‘lightest’ images possible. Thankfully, Photoshop offers an easy way to optimize an image for the internet.

Before starting:

Take note of the image size that is required for the layout. You can adjust the image size directly in the HTML code or in the web building platform you’re using (such as WordPress) as you built your website in order to get the project going, but you’ll want to go back and properly resize the images once your choice made. The image can also be resized in the Photoshop function that we explore next.

How to web optimize an image in Photoshop:

2. Go to ‘File’ and scroll down to ‘Save for Web’
