How to revert shared style changes in Sketch

Tip by bryanmanio on August 16, 2017

One of the best features of Sketch is the shared styles feature that was implemented in the previous few versions. It allows you to quickly sync styles throughout your entire document, as well as easily update them all at once. It can become a problem when you accidentally make a change to the style, and I’ve recently found a keyboard shortcut that will allow you to revert back to the original style. Lets take a look how it works.

Here you can see that I have a shared style called Teal BG in the header of my design.

If I decide to tweak the color, you’ll notice that a refresh symbol appears beside the symbol name. Clicking this will sync that style between all objects that are using that style.

But what if I want to go back to my original color for that style? Well, all you need to do is simply hold down Option, and you’ll see that the sync icon then turns into a revert icon. Clicking that will take you back to your original style color.
